A casino bonus is a conditional balance, not a gift with the same properties as cash. The headline describes how much may be credited; the terms determine what must happen before any resulting balance can be withdrawn.
Seven terms to inspect
- Qualifying deposit: the minimum, eligible methods and whether a code or opt-in is required.
- Wagering basis: whether the multiplier applies to the bonus alone or to deposit plus bonus.
- Game contribution: slots may count fully while tables, live games or low-edge titles count less or not at all.
- Maximum bet: one stake above the limit can breach the promotion even if it was accidental.
- Expiry: a seven-day window creates a very different pace from thirty days.
- Maximum winnings or cash-out: some offers cap what can leave the account.
- Withdrawal effect: requesting cash early may cancel the bonus and related winnings.
Compare cost, not percentage
A 100% match sounds larger than a 50% match, but it can be worse after wagering. If a €100 bonus has 40× bonus wagering, €4,000 of eligible bets is required. If a €50 bonus has 20× wagering, the requirement is €1,000. Neither amount predicts the final result because each bet can win or lose during completion.
Game contribution changes the calculation again. At 10% contribution, €100 staked counts as only €10 toward the target. A smaller multiplier is not automatically easy when most games contribute little.
When opting out makes sense
Skip a promotion if you want to make an early withdrawal, if the maximum stake conflicts with your normal play, or if the required turnover exceeds an affordable entertainment budget. Cash play has a simpler balance and fewer contractual conditions.
Bonuses do not remove the house edge. They change the amount and conditions of play, not the fact that casino games are designed to return less than is wagered over the long run.
